Wytheville, VA(January 26, 2010) -- Starting today, Tuesday, January 26th, RACE22.com will begin voting for the Late Model Stock Car, Most Popular Driver Award Overall.
RACE22.com staged voting for the UARA-STARS Series Most Popular Driver award just over a week ago and with that more than 1,000 votes were cast in 27 of the 50 United States in a 48-hour period. This time around we'll determine the Overall Most Popular Driver in Late Model Stock Car racing. First each State in the RACE22.com region will have a vote to determine the State's Most Popular Driver, which will help determine the drivers who are added to the Overall Most Popular Driver Vote beginning on February 1st.
Brennan Poole and Coleman Pressley have already etched their name on to the Overall List after Poole won, the UARA-STARS Series Most Popular Driver vote and Pressley finished second behind him. Today begins the Virginia State Most Popular Driver vote which will include the top nine from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Virginia State Points Standings from 2009 as well as wild cards from the rest of the state.
Making the list for the state of Virginia includes the top nine; Philip Morris, CE Falk, Frank Deiny Jr., Nick Smith, Chad Harris, Brandon Dean, Tommy Lemons Jr, Justin Johnson, David Quakenbush and Franklin County Speedway champion, Eddie Young and runner-up in points at Langley Speedway, Danny Edwards, Jr.
North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee voting will begin over the next few days with the same criteria as was used in the state of Virginia. You'll note that absent from the Virginia list are drivers from the Lonesome Pine Raceway and we've decided because of a lack of tracks in Tennessee to include them in the Tennessee voting which will be made up of Newport Speedway and Lonesome Pine Raceway competitors only. With neither being NASCAR sanctioned, we will take the top four in points from each track and add three wild cards to complete the 11-driver card.
For this award a couple of RACE22.com's biggest supporters ARP Bodies and Circle Racing Wheels have stepped up to provide awards for the top vote winner in the Overall category.
