Best 9 of '09: Best Appearing Cars

9th - Darrell Wallace, Jr. #76

Welcome to RACE22.com ... The Home of Late Model Stock Car Racing ... RACE22.com

While Darrell Wallace , Jr. might have had a rough season on the track, his paint scheme once again was among the best out there.  White, Black and Orange certainly stand out on the track and for Wallace and his team backed by Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil that wasn't enough to make them fast and keep them competitive.
Wallace did have one lone victory this season coming in the Old Dominion ShootOut at Franklin County Speedway, the site of one of his other two career Late Model Stock Car wins.

8th - Philip Morris #26

There's certainly no denying that the Clarence's SteakHouse paint scheme is one of the best looking cars in any Late Model Stock Car race and now that veteran, Philip Morris has been behind the wheel of the legendary car it's been looking good in victory lane too.
Morris once again won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Championship for the third time in last four years.  Morris did however disgrace the paint scheme for a few races this year changing it to black, but it didn't take long for him get it back to the legendary look.

7th - Megan Reitenour #92

Megan Reitenour made her debut in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Cars this season driving a car Gene Leicht, father of Matt & Kevin Leicht, who are both known to have "bad" looking paint schemes.  Reitenour too had a "bad" looking paint scheme with her CompCal black, pink/purple and yellow colored car.
Reitenour also had a good rookie season racing around Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC.  While she wasn't awarded the Rookie of the Year award she did have the best season there by a "true" rookie.

6th - Zeke Shell #97

Zeke Shell has been known to have some of the best looking cars in Late Model Stock Car car racing from his 2007 Dinosaur look to this years paint scheme.  Shell should have good looking cars as his family owns the PIP Printing franchise location in Johnson City, TN.
With the great looking car this season, Shell didn't have quite the season he was looking for coming off of a great mid to late season stretch of races in 2008 at Motor Mile Speedway.  Shell did start to get things together toward the end of the season and he's hoping to carry that to 2010.

5th - Scott Turlington #48

Scott Turlington's 2009 paint scheme didn't look a lot different from his 2008 scheme, but the young Richmond, VA driver had a hot looking ride for sure.  Turlington's black, white and blue "star" paint scheme turned heads everywhere they traveled and while touring with the UARA-STARS Series they traveled a little of everywhere.
Turlington also made great strides in his racing program becoming consistently consistent this season and putting himself up one more position in the series points standings to ninth.

4th - Tommy Lemons, Jr. #27

Tommy Lemons, Jr. had an explosive season on the track at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA running consistent every week and breaking through for his first victory on the highly competitive 4/10 mile track.  Lemons not only knocked down his first victory, but his second and third in a matter of just a few weeks.
Lemons car at Motor Mile was a good looking spin on the Bailey's look with a yellow car, but his best paint scheme came in the season's final race at Myrtle Beach Speedway.  There Lemons broke out the same scheme from 2008 nicknamed the "Split Decision" paint scheme.

3rd - Paddy Rodenbeck #81

Paddy Rodenbeck didn't have a crazy looking or even what you might call a "bad" looking scheme, but what he had was one of the best looking cars in every race he entered.  Rodenbeck's white car wasn't that much different from the other white cars out there, but what seperated this young drivers look from others was superstition.
Rodenbeck's car had green lettering, a huge no, no in racing for the superstitous, but his car, his crew uniforms and driver uniform all had green on them and he made it work.  Rodenbeck picked up two wins this season on the UARA tour showing the superstitous that they're stupid!

2nd - Brennan Poole #5

Brennan Poole certainly made a huge splash on the Late Model Stock Car world in just his first season racing the heavy stock cars.  Poole's paint schemes were destined to be "bad" from the start as he was driving for Jamie Yelton, who always has great looking cars.
Poole's mid season paint scheme change from white flames to orange ones was just the trick to elevate him to second in our year long Best Appearing class.  Poole's white flames however were pretty sharp too as was his old school look at Martinsville, where he finished third, the highest finish ever by a rookie in LMSC biggest race.

1st - Brandon Dean #5

Brandon Dean was another driver who made a huge statement during the 2009 season as he underwent a mid-season team change and still managed to be involved in one of the closest championship points battles in Motor Mile Speedway history.  Despite the success, Dean still wasn't able to pick up that elusive first career win, but with this first place finish in the Best Appearing Cars of 2009, he can rejoice.
Dean's cars always looked good, but none better than the black, green, blue and yellow scheme he debuted at Martinsville for Kiker Motorsports.
