Matt D. & Mitch West Get Back Together Welcome to RACE22.com ... The Home of Late Model Stock Car Racing ... RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com Hickory, NC ~ Just a few weeks before the Bailey's 300 at Martinsville Speedway, Matt Guido DiBenedetto left Mitch West Racing after the driver scored four wins in with the team including the UARA 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway, his biggest career win. Turn the page to today and DiBenedetto is climbing back behind the wheel of a Mitch West car again for the Seneca 400 at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Mitch West Racing has a rich history in Late Model Stock Car competition with many of the divisions top drivers throughout the last ten years competing for the team including a near championship run in the UARA in 2007 with Mark Setzer. DiBenedetto, the young superstar of Late Model Stock Car racing right now has had a great couple years including the 2007 Melling Select Rookie of the Year on the UARA tour and four wins this season including the Matt DiBenedetto(left) and Mitch West teamed up at the beginning of this season, but tension and parts failures made for an ugly breakup just after Labor Day. Apparently despite the ugly breakup the bridge wasn't burned and Matt D. finds himself back in a Mitch West owned car again. big Bristol victory. DiBenedetto and West Racing would seem to be perfect together, but if you've followed this season, the victories were usually surrounded by DNF's and the perfect couple was riding a rocky road. The turmoil inside the team despite the victories led to the team parting ways with DiBenedetto as a down economy played a roll along with several issues with the car along the way. Many times when things happen like that the people involved end up not speaking to one another and almost never get back together, but this story has a happy ending. DiBenedetto and West will join forces once again as the team hits the road looking for a good run in the Seneca 400 at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The team will be sporting a HarCor Chassis at "the Beach", powered by a Don Kowalsky engine and will no doubt be a strong contender in one of the biggest races of the season. Look for DiBenedetto and the Mitch West Racing team to be strong at Myrtle Beach as the young driver has been known to jump in any car for any team with any chassis and any engine and be very competitive. I wouldn't be surprised to see DiBenedetto hovering around the top five at the end of the 250-lap race. |
