Kenly, NC ~ Friday morning when the gates opened the Parking lot area was filled with Race Haulers ready to come in the 4/10th mile Southern National Raceway Park located in Kenly,NC in preparations of running the Thanksgiving Classic which was postponed last week because of mother nature. Boy were they ready to go at 9am when practice began and all of the crews and drivers took advantage of every second every minute til 5pm when it ended. The forecast for this weekend starts with the letter R but it's not rain?? You guessed it RACING RACING RACING!!!

 

Now it's going be chilly so you better bundle up for the weekend racing action Saturday and Sunday. Now again as I stated earlier to day was open practice for the Late Model Stocks and the Super Late Models all running for big money this weekend and if you remember last week car #50 of Four Oaks,NC's Jamey Caudill was the fastest with a 15.30's sec but they were flying Friday and the times show it. One thing you have to remember if you know or don't know about racing is the colder it

gets the faster the cars run and cars grip to the track easier as well as keep the engines cooled down instead of the summer time when it 100% outside and also it was Cloudy Friday all through practice with a Highs only in the Lower 40%'s outside.

So here are the Drivers who Practiced to day and their fastest Lap of the day as well. Now I quickly mention that car #34 of South Boston ,VA's Stacy Puryear was the fastest car in Practice Friday and WOW what a lap he ran Friday in Practice and he feels confident he'll be a threat come Sunday in the Thanksgiving Classic 200 lapper paying $10,000 to win!!!

Now I'll let you know that about 7-10 Late Model Stock Cars did not have transponders that's why we couldn't get their times Friday.Also the Super Late Models practiced today #15 of Goldsboro's NC Clay Jones was the fastest through the field that practiced Friday. So with Practice in the books it's time now to focus on making the field through Qualifying Saturday for the big races on Sunday. Now there's plenty of more racing action this weekend including on Saturday to wrap everything up Sunday in the 2008 edition of the Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Raceway Park and we hope to see you at the RACES!!!
