Release Prepared By: RACE22.com Swaim started his final stand in the Caraway points season off right winning the pole for the night's feature race in time trials. Taking full advantage of his starting position at the front of the field Swaim went on to lead majority of the race and looked in line to close out his fourth track championship as a driver with a win until a piece of debris was picked up by the right rear tire causing a slow leak to develop with only 25 laps left. The leak allowed second place Robert Tyler to quickly close up the gap and begin what would be an intense but clean battle between the two drivers for the lead. "We probably made contact several times while we were racing for the lead but that put on a great show for the fans here," said Swaim of the race between himself and Tyler. When all was said and done Swaim lost the battle with Tyler but won the war as his finish clinched the 2010 Late Model Stock track championship over close competitors Jason York and Dan Moore. The championship marks Travis Swaim's fourth overall track championship at Caraway with the other three coming in 2009, 2005 and 2004 and also places him in a category of his own as Caraway's only four-time track champion. "This championship really does mean a lot to me because of the fact that no one has ever won four before," said Swaim. "Anytime you are the first to do something or to reach a certain milestone it really is a special moment for you and everyone else involved and I couldn't have a better crew behind me. Not to mention all the help I've got over the year from David Mercer, Rayvon Clark over at Clark Racing Engines, Pistone LTO Chassis and Wes Page over at WP Racing Shocks" "But I really owe this championship to my crew mainly for the fact that we have had zero mechanical issues plague us in our title chase," said Swaim. "My crew chief Ronald Fox did a phenomenal job and with Bobby Little on the tires and Travis Jarrett spotting for me as well as the great help from Donald Milsap, Jeremy Hunt and Coy Beard, this crew was on point all season long and I'm blessed to have them." Swaim has a couple of weeks off now and plans to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Championship at his home track of Caraway Speedway October 16th-17th, as well as a potential run at the historic Myrtle Beach Speedway in November for the Myrtle Beach 400 as the season begins to wind down for he and his team.
