High Point, NC(February 4, 2010) -- Travis Swaim was no stranger to Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC when he returned to compete for the Late Model Stock Car track championship last season, having won the title twice before, but he also made a bid for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina State Championship.

Swaim, though his season started off a little slow was able to overcome some adversity and a strong field of challengers to win the track championship with five wins on the 4/10 mile track during the 2009 season. However, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina State title still hung in the balance and Swaim had to compete in a few other races on other NASCAR sanctioned venues around the state of North Carolina to have a chance to win the state title.

Swaim took his chase for the NASCAR North Carolina State Title to Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC, a Friday night NASCAR sanctioned track for the seasons final race, but the current points leader in the NC State standings, Andy Mercer was there as well. Swaim drove a smart, clean race while Mercer had a rough night and Swaim pretty well clinched the NASCAR North Carolina State Title with that swing in points. He solidified the title the following night on Mercer's home turf, by having another solid run.

Swaim and his Ronald Fox led team were able to celebrate not one championship, but two with his third Caraway Speedway track championship in the track's feature division as well as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina State Title. Swaim and his team had a great season collecting six wins with five coming on his home turf at Caraway including a win in the season's biggest race, the Mid-Atlantic Championship.

The veteran driver is hoping to repeat his performances of 2009 and maybe come out even stronger and he's got a history of repeating as champion on the 4/10 mile track. Swaim won his first championship in 2004 only to come back the following year and duplicate his championship winning performance with another Late Model Stock Car division track championship.

Swaim will be back behind the wheel of his Pistone LTO Chassis powered by Clark's Racing Engines, with the continued support of Mercer Race Car Engineering and WP Racing Shocks. Swaim is set to compete for the full schedule of 19 races at Caraway as well as select races at Tri-County Motor Speedway with additional dates to be announced later.

With his races at Caraway as well as Tri-County, Swaim is hoping he can also duplicate his NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina State Title performance.

"Winning the championship at Caraway is pretty special in itself as my family has a lot of history there, but to come away last year with the NASCAR North Carolina State Title was pretty awesome," said Swaim. "There's nothing I'd like to do more than to go back and repeat as both the Caraway and the state champion."

Over the winter months, Swaim also launched an all new website www.tswaim.com, so that his fans and supporters can keep up with his latest racing results as well as check out his schedule to see where he'll be racing each week, see photos and much more.
