Myrtle Beach, SC(September 7, 2010) -- Another season is in the books at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Rick Smith has his fourth Late Model Stock championship at the race track after a second place finish in the first race of the night Smith claimed the championship.
In qualifying, Jeremy McDowell lapped the .538 mile track in 21.182 seconds. Justin Milliken and Jamie Lee rounded out the top three. McDowell got the lead on the start with Milliken settling in behind him. Rick Smith had to make his way through the field as a poor qualifying effort had him starting out back. By lap seven, Smith was making his way around Edward Jordan for fifth.
Lap fifteen saw Milliken make his move around McDowell for the top spot. Milliken set sail on the field and cruised to a win in race number one. Rick Smith was still making his way through the field. Lap twenty three saw Smith make his move on Jamie Lee who was making a rare start in the Late Model Stocks. Smith now set his sights on Jeremy McDowell for second. With a handful of laps left, Smith made his final move of the race and moved around McDowell for second.
Back up front it was Milliken who cruised to his third victory in a row and fourth of the season. Behind him, Rick Smith clinched his fourth track championship. Jeremy McDowll, Jamie Lee and Matt Cox rounded out the top five.
The second race saw the top five from race one inverted. Matt Cox inherited the pole with Jamie Lee, Jeremy McDowell, Rick Smith and Justin Milliken the new top five. Jamie Lee jumped out to the lead on the start of the second race. Lap two saw Cox, McDowell, and Smith go three wide into turn one. Coming out with second would be McDowell, followed by Cox and Smith.
Justin Milliken started fifth but quickly worked his way around those three and set his sights on Lee who was leading. Lap six Milliken made his move and took the lead from Lee. Behind those two, Terry Evans and Jeremy McDowell were going at it for the fourth spot. Evans was finally able to clear McDowell on lap sixteen.
Evans was now closing in on the fifty one of Cox who was third. Those two battled for several laps with Evans getting the spot on lap twenty eight. By now the leaders were long gone and Evans settled for third. Back up front it was Justin Milliken's night has he swept the twin races and finished the year on a four race win streak. Jamie Lee, Terry Evans, Rick Smith and Matt Cox rounded out the top five.
The best race of the night was the Limited Late Model feature. Ten cars took the green flag in there twenty five lap race which saw Randall Roberts start from the pole in Richard Burgess' car. Roberts led the first lap but Jonathan Lewis was all over Robert's bumper for the lead. Eventual race winner Hunter Bledsoe started from the sixth position and was quickly making his way to the front. Bledsoe made his move around Lucas Williams for fifth. Then set his sights on the front four.
In the back, Kerry Lawrence, Kevin Barnhill, Brian Vause, Willie Grainger and Brant McMullen where all doing battle for the sixth spot. Vause and Barnhill where side by side for the majority of the race with nether driver giving an inch. Barnhill was able to clear Vause for the spot.
Back up front, Bledsoe was now working his way to the lead. Around Dal Wright and Jonathan Lewis, Bledsoe now had to make the move around Roberts for the lead. With just a few laps remaining, Bledsoe made his move off turn four and cleared Roberts into turn one. Bledsoe never looked back and took him another win in the Limited division.
Randall Roberts is your 2010 track champion in the Limited division with a second place run. Lucas Williams, Johnathan Lewis and Dal Wright rounded out the top five. Another season is in the book at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Congratulations goes out to Rick Smith and Randall Roberts for their track championships in there respected divisions.
