Limited Late Model Power Rankings August 2010 -- 1st -11th Welcome to RACE22.com ... The Home of Late Model Stock Car Racing ... RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com #11 -- Boo Boo Dalton/Ace
Don't let the name fool you, "Boo Boo" maybe a funny name for a race car driver, but the young man can simply wheel a car. "Boo Boo" already has six wins this season on two different tracks, Ace Speedway in Altamahaw and Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. The young driver has proved his skills against the veterans and up and comers alike and looks only to climb this list as the season winds down. #10 -- Brad Housewright/LPR
"Bad Brad", no not the voice of the popular Madhouse Television show about Bowman Gray Stadium, but "Bad Brad" Housewright, a household name to many race fans in the East Tennessee/Southwest Virginia area. Brad is one of the best known wheel men throughout the area and continues to show it in Lonesome Pine's Charger(Limited) division with multiple wins there as well as a lone victory at Kingsport Speedway in the only Limited division race there this season. #9 -- Tommy Peregoy/SoBo
South Boston Speedway seems to be home to many of the best of the best in Limited Late Model racing with Tommy Peregoy, Danny Willis Jr. and Justin Snow competing there regularly. Peregoy is easily in the same class with Snow and Willis and has multiple wins there this season, but the thing that keeps him from climbing further up this list is the fact that he doesn't venture out to other tracks while Snow and Willis both do. #8 -- Kenny Bost/Touring
Whether it's Bowman Gray Stadium, Ace Speedway or the newly founded SouthEast Limited Late Model tour, Kenny Bost finds himself right in the mix. He has wins at Bowman Gray and Ace this season and could have easily found himself in victory lane under the right circumstances at Florence in the SE Limtied Series race. Bost is one of the veterans of Limited Late Model racing, but he continues to be one of the divisions brightest stars. #7 -- Ziggy Zimmerman/Ace
Ziggy Zimmerman is the man at Ace Speedway ... simply because he's the guy to beat and the guy you want to beat when you travel to the Altamahaw, NC bullring on Friday nights. Ziggy has a handful of wins this season and although he's been challenged more this season than in recent memory, he's still one of the best drivers in Limited Late Model racing. The only strike against Ziggy is his unwillingness to travel and compete at other tracks, but as long as he's got a stranglehold at Ace, he'll stay up front in the Power Rankings. #6 -- Anthony Barnes/Motor Mile
Roger Parrish, Jr., Matt Taylor, Scott Lancaster, Kyle Dudley, Travis Hurt, Steve Dalton and of course, Anthony Barnes ... that's a list of the top competitors who you would face at Motor Mile Speedway on any given week. All those guys could easily find themselves on this list and even in the top 11, but Anthony is the only one to make the "Top 11" as he's stood out above the crowd for the last couple of seasons and even way back to the early 2000's. Anthony is the man to beat at Motor Mile week in and week out and he's one of the best in the region. #5 -- Tyler Church/Tri-County
Tyler Church isn't afraid to mix it up with the best of the best, after all competing in the Limited Late Model division at Hickory Motor Speedway over the last few seasons has made him one of the sharpest young drivers out there. Tyler continues to show his strength with victories at both Hickory and Tri-County Motor Speedway this season over some of the best competition anywhere. Tyler is a young driver full of heart and determination that will one day find his way to the top of not just Limiteds, but Late Model Stock Car racing. #4 -- Justin Snow/SoBo
Justin Snow has had a see-saw career, from being one of the most dominant forces in Limiteds to a budding Late Model Stock Car career and back to being dominant once again in the Limiteds. Through it all at whatever level he's been competing at, Justin has been one of the drivers to beat and now with six wins this season at South Boston he finds himself looking at a potential championship. His place in the top five here was further cemented by a one-off run at Motor Mile, where he qualified in the top five and finished there, a quite impressive performance. #3 -- Dexter Canipe, Jr./Hickory
Dexter Canipe, Jr. will probably go down as one of the Limited Late Model racing's best drivers ever and this season he's out for blood once again. After winning the Limited and Late Model Stock Car championships at Tri-County a year ago, he's on his way to the Limited championship at Hickory this season, where he's been simply dominant. Very few other drivers have graced the Limited Late Model victory lane at Hickory as Dexter, Jr. carries on his fathers winning tradition. #2 -- Danny Willis, Jr./SoBo
Danny Willis, Jr. should be among Late Model Stock Car racing's elite right now, but funding has never materialized, so the young second generation driver is making the most of his talent in Limited Late Models. Willis' father was a decorated veteran driver back in the day with race wins all over the Virginia racing region from Motor Mile to Franklin County to South Boston and beyond and Jr. is continuing that tradition while in Limiteds. Willis has had a great season at South Boston despite a recent disqualification and recently dominated at Motor Mile before cutting down a tire with three-laps to go. Willis is one of the super talents of Limited racing and with a little luck will find himself in a competitive Late Model Stock Car ride soon. #1 -- Gary Ledbetter/Touring
Gary Ledbetter has dominated everything he's ever raced from Enduro's at Caraway Speedway to Street Stocks and now to Limited Late Models, he's simply a great veteran driver. Unlike many of the guys on this list, who are young upstarts, Ledbetter is aging much like a fine wine as he continues to get better with time. Right now Ledbetter, who has wins at Bowman Gray, Ace and Caraway this season along with solid performances at Florence in the SE Limited Series, Hickory in the Dwight Huffman and other events, is the cream of the crop in Limited Late Model racing. |
