But the Falk's team's hard work would pay off as they would finish in time for qualifying and be able to put the 40 into the third qualifying spot behind the Edwards brothers only minutes later. Danny Edwards did earn the pole for the Med Express 100 with a lap time of 16.292 at an average speed of 87.282 MPH. His brother Greg had been on the provisional pole for about 20 seconds before Danny turned his lap beating Greg by a mere 0.009 seconds. CE Falk was third with a 16.315, followed by Matt Waltz in fourth who turned in a career best qualifying performance with a 16.387 and Woody Howard rounded out the top five with a 16.406 a week after his triumph in the Hampton Heat 200. After a clean start with no immediate issues throughout the field the caution flag would be displayed after only 8 laps when Paul DeBolt tangled bumpers with the 4 of Matt Waltz sending Waltz for a spin in between Turns 1 and 2. Officials would deem DeBolt to be at fault in the incident and he would join Waltz in retreating to the rear of the field for the restart. At this point the Edwards brothers were still in front followed by CE Falk, Howard and Mark Wertz.
When they went back under green the top eight looked to separate themselves from the rest of the field and stayed single-file for a few laps before Wertz began to challenge Howard for the fourth spot. For the next several laps Howard and Wertz would go back and forth, exchanging the position multiple times before Wertz would eventually gain a clear advantage on lap 20. Unfortunately by this time, the top three had stayed single-file, with the exception of Falk began to chip away bit by bit at the five car lead that Danny Edwards had built and had it cut down to about two car-lengths at the halfway mark and a few laps later they were bumper-to-bumper getting set to battle it out for the win. The second caution of the race, and surprisingly the last, came out on lap 58 due to suspected fluid on the track in Turn 4 after multiple cars sliding off the corner caught the attention of the officials. On the restart Falk wasted no time filling Danny Edwards' mirror up with a bid for the lead and started a side-by-side battle that lasted until lap 67 when D. Edwads' pulled back ahead by two lengths. Falk would take a break to get his tires cooled back down to launch another bid for the lead on lap 70 when he made another move to the inside of Danny Edwards in Turn 2 and grabbed the official advantage at the start-finish line on lap 71. Three laps later Falk had built a two car-length advantage. Lap 83 brought some lap traffic into Falk's path which he worked his way around efficiently but the delay did bring Danny Edwards back to within reach of his rear bumper. But that would be the closest Edwards would get as once again Falk would display his get up and go ability as he drove away and would win by 0.863 seconds over Danny Edwards. Greg Edwards was third, followed by Mark Wertz in fourth and Casey Wyatt in fifth.
Falk was signing praises to his team in Victory Lane when he said, "First off, I have to thank my crew. In the past, I don't think it's even been 24 hours, we've gone through three motors and these guys never quit. I have to thank Mr. Randy Sears, who tried to get us back running. Unfortunately, I blew up his motor, too. I don't know what my deal is, lately, but we got the old Chevrolet back out. Man, my crew is awesome. They worked their tails off for me and I love every one of 'em to death and we had a great race tonight. One week late, but it'll be all right." Falk of course was referring to last week's Hampton Heat 200 in which he lead 160+ laps but was overtaken late by Woody Howard after he felt his right front had been used up.
Bruce Albin Photos CE Falk was able to bring home another 37 NASCAR points with the win and widened his track points lead by another two points to a 28-point lead over 2008 track champion Danny Edwards.
