Hickory, NC(June 1, 2009) -- He came, he saw, he conquered ... that's been the recent news out of Hickory Motor Speedway since Andy Mercer started to live up to his nickname as the "New King" of the famous 3/8 mile track.

Mercer again qualified on the pole, his seventh of the 2009 season and once again he dominated the race from green flag to checkered capturing an impressive seventh straight win on the tight little bullring. The wins so far this season haven't came without many challengers and strong fields at Hickory, but one by one he slays them down in his Pistone LTO.

This week an early season challenger in the form of Ash Huffman looked as if he might have something for Mercer, but again like he's done all season he didn't even give him the chance to sniff the lead. Mercer led all 50-laps of the event en route to his seventh win and if no one steps up from the shadows Mercer will be looking for his eighth win of the season next Saturday night.

Grant Wimbish finished third on Saturday night behind Mercer and Huffman, after an impressive run Friday night at Tri-County Motor Speedway, but he also was unable to mount any kind of challenge on Mercer. Cole Miktuk continued his impressive rookie season with another top five run in fourth and Dexter Canipe, Jr., who won at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Friday picked up another top five in fifth.

Racing action continues for Hickory Motor Speedway this Saturday night with another 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car race.
