Weekly Tracks Power Rankings -- May 2010 -- Drivers 1 - 11
Jason York has been one of the Late Model Stock Car drivers to beat for a while now, but this season he seems to be back on his game after a lack-luster 2009 season. York already has two feature wins at Caraway and if he begins to branch out more, he'll likely find himself climbing this list like fellow Caraway driver, Travis Swaim. Welcome to RACE22.com ... RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com Website Designed, Hosted & Maintained by RACE22.com #11 -- Jason York/Caraway #10 -- Nate Monteith/Lonesome
Nate Monteith has in recent years found himself near the top of the list of East Tennessee Late Model Stock Car drivers, following in the footsteps of his friend and former NASCAR Regional Champion, Wade Day. Monteith has started this season off solid as well as he is perfect to date at Lonesome Pine Raceway, with three straight wins. #9 -- Kyle Mansch/Hickory
Kyle Mansch may be somewhat of an unknown to many in Late Model Stock Car racing, but since moving up from the Limited Late Models he's been turning Hickory Motor Speedway up on it's ear. With two wins already as well as other top five finishes, his season is off to a great start and he may well find himself winning the track title as a rookie! #8 -- Andy Mercer/Hickory Andy Mercer put himself on the map of Late Model Stock Car drivers in the last couple of seasons and last year with 14 wins and the Hickory track title. This season, he's not burning up victory lane, in fact he's only visited twice, but it's early in the season and he may well find his groove as the season progresses and he may climb back to the top of this list, where he started the season at. #7 -- Rodney Cook/Ace
Rodney Cook has always been the guy to beat at Ace Speedway, but this season he's become the guy no one seems to be able to beat. Cook already has won four of the five Late Model Stock Car races this season on the tough 4/10 mile track and he's showing no signs of weakness. Cook will almost certainly find himself climbing this list if his streak continues. #6 -- Tommy Lemons/Motor Mile
Tommy Lemons got his season started off on a great note picking up his first career South Boston Speedway victory in the seasons second race. Since then he's been in contention at Motor Mile Speedway including a recent race where he dominated until a cut tire on a second green, white, checkered finish ruined his chances. Lemons got hot in the month of May last season and could be heating up now. #5 -- Wayne Ramsey/Motor Mile
Wayne Ramsey was expected to race full time this season at Motor Mile Speedway, but everyone thought he'd be there with the Taylor Brothers team he won the final race of 2009 with. However, when the first green flag waved, Ramsey was in a Frank Deiny owned FDJ Motorsports entry and he was strong right from the start. Ramsey recently picked up win #1 of 2010 and right now he's ahead of Philip Morris for the points lead. Ramsey could well turn out to be the #1 Driver in the month of June. #4 -- Travis Swaim/Caraway
Travis Swaim has his season off to a great start already as well claiming two wins at Caraway Speedway, his home track and he's also made impressive starts at Motor Mile and Tri-County. Swaim's first ever start at Motor Mile Speedway two weeks ago in twin races produced ninth and fifth place finishes and that combined with his Caraway performances puts him near the top of this list. #3 -- Philip Morris/Motor Mile
Philip Morris ... In Late Model Stock Car racing, that name needs no explanation, needs no introduction, needs no words. Morris is off to slow start to his season with multiple starts at South Boston resulting in top fives and two wins opened the season at Motor Mile, but for this veteran it isn't what he was capable of, but he's still one of the most powerful LMSC drivers anywhere. #2 -- Justin Johnson/SoBo
Justin Johnson has really turned it on this season, picking up five wins already this season with four at his home track of South Boston and another recently at Motor Mile Speedway. Johnson has been on fire, he's been exceptional and he also finds himself in second position in the NASCAR National Points Standings as the highest Late Model Stock Car competitor. #1 -- CE Falk/Langley
CE Falk completely put himself at the top of the Late Model Stock Car racing world and really put himself on a short list of young drivers, who might get the chance to move up with his last lap pass of Denny Hamlin in the DH Showdown at Southside a few weeks ago. Falk also has two wins at Langley Speedway, his home track and a couple of near misses at South Boston. Falk's success so far has been incredible, but to stay at the top of this list he's going to have to continue stepping outside of Langley & South Boston like he did at Southside and continue to have success. |
