Loden Wins PASS South at Concord
Story by: Chris Owens ~ chris@RACE22.com In qualifying Ryan Moore set fast time with a lap of 15.726 seconds. Preston Peltier, Jimmy Weller, Justin Wakefield and Bobby Measmer Jr rounded out the top five. During the redraw on track, Concord regular Roger Lee Newton redrew the top spot. Ryan Moore dropped one spot from the pole to the inside of row one. Preston Peltier, Ryan Blaney and Justin Wakefield were the new top five. Twenty eight cars took the green flag but we quickly lost two as Spencer Wauters and Trey Mitchell made contact coming out of turn two. Wauters and Mitchell made repairs and continues on. Ryan Moore was now in the top spot on the restart but Newton quickly moved around him to take the top spot. Preston Peltier would bring out the second caution on lap twenty four when he tagged the wall and went for a spin off the final corner. He would come down pit road and continue on. Newton pulled away on the second restart with Moore and Kevin Love battling over the second spot. Moore won the battle and looked to run down Newton for the top spot. While Peltier was making his way back to the front, he and Kenzie Ruston made contact going into turn one. Ruston went around with no damage but was obviously upset over the situation. After the race Ruston and her crew had some words for Peltier. The fourth caution of the night was for Jimmy Weller. Weller and Grant Davidson made contact down the front stretch which sent Weller around in turn one. No contact with the wall was made and Weller continued on. Your top five on lap forty four was Roger Lee Newton, Ryan Moore, Andy Loden, Ryan Blaney and John Stancill. John Stancill and Devin Jones would make contact on lap forty five which caused everybody behind them to check up. Grant Davidson ended up on top of Kyle Bonsignore car. Also involved in the wreck was, Steve Legendre, Spencer Wauters, Heath Hindman and Kenzie Ruston. Brandon Ward also parked his car after a rear axle on his car. Lap seventy five saw the ten minute halfway break. The top five was Roger Lee Newton, Ryan Moore, Ryan Blaney, Andy Loden, and Kevin Love. On the restart for the half way break, Newton took the top spot over Ryan Moore. Preston Peltier would get into Clay Jones going into turn one. Jones made heavy contact with the outside wall. Both the front and rear of his car was torn all to pieces and he was done for the night. Jones had a few gestures to Peltier has he circled the track under caution. On the restart, Loden battled Newton hard nearly getting into the wall coming off the final corner. Loden would make the pass on Newton dropping him to second. Ryan Moore, who had been running in the top five the whole night, went around on the frontstretch after contact between he and Peltier was made. Ryan Blaney got around Roger Lee Newton on the restart for second. From there Newton battled Bobby Measmer for the third position. Newton's night got a bit worse when he went around off the front bumper of Kevin Love. Slight contact with the wall was made but he continued on. Andy Loden was still the leader with Ryan Blaney second, Bobby Measmer, Kevin Love and Devin Jones the rest of the top five. Measmer and Love would make contact in turn three. Both would go around and slam the outside wall hard. Both cars where done for the night and a few crew guys where a little upset with the other. Devin Jones also got a bit of damage from the accident. On the final restart of the night Andy Loden would have to hold off Blaney who was looking to pass just about every lap. Loden finally pulled away with fifteen to go and never looked back. Taking the checkered flag and blowing the engine as the car overheated. Ryan Blaney would come home second. Preston Peltier third, Jimmy Weller fourth and John Stancill fifth. After the race a few drivers and car owners where a little upset with the driving of Preston Peltier. Clay Jones' crew gave Peltier an ear full. Peltier then tried to talk with Clay but Clay wasn't listening to anything he had to say. Kenzie Ruston was also a bit mad with Peltier. She sarcastically congratulated Peltier and turning her earlier in the race. Ruston's dad was also upset with Peltier and showed it after the race. The Pro All Star Series moves on to the Ace Speedway this Friday night for a one hundred and fifty lap event on the tight four tenths of a mile track. Then Saturday they invade the North Wilkesboro Speedway for a open test session on the historic race track.
