Jon Lane Wins at Dillon in LMSC Affair
Story by: Chris Owens ~ chris@RACE22.com Wayne Locklair's bad luck continued on the first lap when he got loose off turn two and collected Archie Adams Sr. and Marty Griggs. Adams Sr. was done for the night but Locklair and Griggs continued on. Jon Lane would get an amazing restart and take the top spot going into turn one. Kenny Brooks who looked fast throughout practice and qualifying begin his slow fall out of the top five. Locklair would again bring the caution out on lap eight with a cut right front tire. The crew replaced it and he went back out to salvage anything he could. Brooks would get another terrible restart and let Logan Bunning get by off turn two. Ben Stanton looked to follow Bunning but was unsuccessful. After several laps of hard racing Stanton was finally able to clear Brooks and looked to run down the top two. Wayne Lockliar brought out the final caution of the night when he slowed down the backstretch with engine problems. He was able to fire the car up though and drive back to the pits parking it for the night. Lane would get another good restart and clear the machine of Bunning going off into turn one. The battle was now on for the fifth position where Kenny Brooks and Archie Adams Jr. were battling out and heavy for a top five finish. Adams Jr. took the position leaving Brooks to settle for the sixth spot. It was a dominating victory for the fifth six car of Jon Lane who clearly showed he had what it took to take on Hal Goodson when he returns in a few weeks. Logan Bunning, Ben Stanton, Jason Clark, and Archie Adams Jr. rounded out the top five. After the drama last week in the charger division what more could we expect this Saturday night? Well, Kent Harper showed us that he was going to be a force to deal with the rest of the year handily winning the thirty lap feature event. The only caution of the night was for Chad Webster and Bobby June. Webster had some retaliation for June after last week's incident that saw Webster pound the outside wall in turn four. They both continued on without damage. Kent Harper was your winner with Ernie Chappell, Mike Watts, Chad Webster and Bobby June rounding out the top five. The Super Trucks return next week to the Dillon Motor Speedway with a purse of $1200. It pays $175 to start the race with American Racer 83 Compound tires being used that only cost $140. Also running next week is the Charger, Street Stock, 4 Cylinder and Mini-Cup cars all in action. The Late Model division will be back in action June 26th and RACE22.com will again be there with all the post race coverage.
