Goodson Doubles Up at Dillon Again
Story by: Chris Owens ~ chris@RACE22.com Goodson started from pole in the Late Model division and quickly showed that he would be tough to beat. Jon Lane never really showed anything for Goodson who pulled away on every restart of the night. The first caution of the night came out when Wayne Locklair slowed down the backstretch with a flat right front tire. He came to pit road replaced the tire and was quickly back out on track working his way through the field. Locklair was also the second caution of the night. When he once again had a right front tire go down. Joe Bolin would lose an engine a few laps later and bring out the third and final caution of the night. Scott Wise had now moved around Jon Lane for second and looked to run down Goodson but was never able to get up to the back bumper of the forty five machine. Goodson took home his second win of the season in the Late Model division. Scott Wise was second and Jon Lane was third. Goodson now shifted his attention to the Super Truck division where he started from the pole over Todd Kelly. The two would battle for the top spot for the opening five laps when Goodson was finally able to clear Kelly going into turn one.
Archie Adams Jr. brought out the first caution of the night when his truck caught fire on the backstretch. He was unharmed but the front of the truck was engulfed in flames. Ryan Hall and Marty Griggs were locked to each other all night. The two worked their way through the field and finished in the third and fourth positions. Kelly tried one last time to get around Goodson but was unsuccessful as Goodson took his third victory in three races this year. Haniey slowed backed down the race track so he could get out of his car while June was running up the backstretch to get to Haniey. When the two met punches were thrown and Haniey was placed in hand cuffs and escorted from the race track. June was left to work his way through the field. Kent Harper was now your leader after the action on the backstretch. June quickly moved around the slower cars of Kevin Ellis, Michael Williamson and Mike Watts and now had his eye on the two leaders of Harper and Chad Webster. June would try and make the pass on Webster going into turn three. The two made contact and Webster pounded the outside wall. Webster displayed his frustrations with June on the track but not with his car. This now left just June and Harper to battle for the win. Harper would get into the wall a few laps after the restart allowing June to get by and take the win.
In victory lane Webster's wife had a few words to say to June along with several of his crew members. Bottles were thrown but no punches and the crowd let Bobby June know how they felt with many boos from the stands.
