Edwards, forcing him to run the car a bit harder then he wanted to.
Not long later as the green flag run continued on, another driver in the top five in points experienced mechanical failure. This time it was the car of Wes Falk that had the problems as his motor went south while running strong in the fourth position on lap 49 relegating him to a 12th place finish and ruining what could have been a good points day.
But through all the mechanical failures the race stayed green and caution free as Edwards charged on to his second win of the season with C.E. Falk in second while Woody Howard, Mark Wertz and Paul Debolt rounded out the top five. The field would start straight up in race number two placing Edwards and Falk on the front row. Meanwhile, Danny Edwards and Wes Falk both had to go to back up cars, each belonging to their respective brothers coincidentally.
At the start of the race Greg Edwards looked to repeat his performance from race one but Falk had other things in mind as he made the pass for the lead on lap 4. One lap later the caution flew for the first and only time on the night for Casey Wyatt's big 360 degree spin in turn 4. With the double file restarts in place, Falk started on the inside with Edwards on his outside and Woody Howard behind him.
Back under green Falk continued to flex his muscle pulling away as Edwards and Howard began to tussle for second place resulting in Howard taking over the position. Meanwhile, Danny Edwards was on the move with his fresh tires moving up into the top five for the first time on lap 21 before passing rookie Brandon Gdovic for fourth on lap 26.
Still under green as the laps ticked away Falk continued to stretch out his lead over Howard as the Edwards brothers began to battle for third place with Danny passing Greg(in Greg's own back-up car) on lap 39. The elder Edwards then set his sights on Howard looking to move into second and attempt to chase Falk down for the lead.
Edwards would catch Howard and make his way past for second with 22 laps remaining but it would just prove to be too little too late as Falk had already run off to a huge lead over the rest of the field. At the end of the second 75 lap race Falk laid claim to his fifth win of the season by just over two and a half seconds over Danny Edwards with Woody Howard, Greg Edwards and Brandon Gdovic rounding out the top five.
With 11 races in the books for the Langley Late Model Stocks, C.E. Falk finds himself in a familiar place sitting first in the standings with Greg Edwards only eight points back in second. Woody Howard sits third 24 markers out with Danny Edwards in fourth and Wes Falk in fifth. Many Langley regulars will take advantage of a week off to head to South Boston on Friday for 200 laps before returning home for the Hampton Heat 200, a $10,000 to win Late Model Stock race on July 10th.
