Jacksonville,NC(May 17, 2010) -- TJ Barron fought the first half of the 60-lap Limited Late Model feature at Coastal Plains Raceway Park with Taylor Howard and then cruised to victory in the second half for his second consecutive feature victory.

Barron started from pole but it was Howard pulling into the lead from outside pole. The two drivers battled nose to tail and side by side until lap twenty when the race's only caution flew. Howard got the jump again on the restart as the top two continued their edge of the seat battle.

On lap 29 Barron finally took over the lead and Howard's night went straight backward. Within a few laps he had drifted back to sixth and then hit the pits for several laps, effectively ending his evening.

Dustin Turnage took up the chase for the lead, while John Whaley slotted in for third. Turnage tried, but there was no catching Barron who took his second straight feature at

the east Carolina oval. Whaley stayed in a solid third, followed by Jerry Burns and Brandon Hobbs.

In only his second appearance of the year Whaley was thrilled with third. "We desperately needed a caution," said Whaley. "We just got a little bit free on entry. We've been running tight all year. This is our second time down here so I'm pretty happy. I put enough front brake in the car to put it in the corner without it stepping out and naturally it just made it push in the center. I think we'll have something for them next time. We blew a motor last night and worked all night to get it back together so I'm pretty happy."

Barron had all the confidence of a championship contender but knows that Taylor Howard won't be giving it to him. "He's been strong all year. Looks like he and I are running for the championship. I knew I had a good car and I figured if I could get around him I could get out and lead some and we ended up running away "with it, so it was good."

Dustin Turnage was happy with second, but said it all when summing up TJ Barron's run. "At the end it was tit for tat," said Turnage, " I'd be running the exact same laps as TJ or in a couple of laps I'd be a tenth ahead of him. Another caution definitely would have helped. It took me a while to get around the 99. TJ has his mess together tonight. I'm proud of him. He's got that thing working good. We've got a little bit of homework left to do here."

Coastal Plains notes; Twelve cars started the feature with Brandon Clements as the only retirement.
