$2,000 to Win on May Daze at Ace Speedway Friday

Altamahaw, NC(May 20, 2010) -- Friday night racing resumes once again this week at Ace Speedway, but this won't be just any normal Friday night. The Late Model Stock Cars will be in action as usual, but with 100 laps and $2000 to win on the line, a few new faces are looking to steal some thunder from the red hot, Rodney Cook.

The 2010 season at Ace has been a success after having the entire track nearly fall to pieces just at the end of last year. With the new management in place in the form of former Ace modified champion Brad Allen, the track has done a complete 180 and has started gaining back the trust of some fans and drivers that felt slighted in previous years. With the track doing much needed promotional work helping the fans and drivers alike, and paying the racers in cash each night after the races, the track looks to continue it's upward spiral into 2010. This weeks big race is just another step in that direction.

"We are just keeping our momentum going in the right direction", said Allen. "We want the fans to be entertained with a great show, which they always get here, and we want the drivers to enjoy coming here so they keep coming back. So far eveything has been so positive this year, the drivers are happy and the fans are saying great things about the track, and we look to continue that. This race is just another block in the wall to build Ace back to where it needs to be, and beyond that."

There are 19 drivers on the list for this Friday, and a few new faces are in the mix. Rising hotshoe Ryan Wilson will be there, as will newcomer to Ace this season Ryan Gray, who looked very strong at the first of the year until injuring his arm in a wreck and missing two races. Scotty Warren, who was gunning for the championship just a few years ago, will be back with a brand new car after not racing at all in 2009. Then of course you have Speedy Faucette, who will be a car everyone is watching as the defending series champion looks to make a return after running a limited schedule in 2010.

Then of course you have your big dogs which are the track regulars. Rodney Cook looks to be unstoppable at this point in the season, as he has four wins in five events. The only other driver to take a checkered flag this season is Brad Kurth and with his new power plant this season he has shown that he is going to be near the top. Dustin Rumley is another regular to watch, after destroying his car a few weeks ago and missing two races, he came back last event out in a brand new Marlowe chassis, sat on the pole and finished second to Cook. Then we get to Bobby Griffin, who could be the sleeper this weekend as he has came out in 2010 with a vengeance and will most definitely pick up his first win sometime very soon.

Throw in John Moore, Jason Payne, Dean Fogleman, Thomas Scott, Robert Turner and this should be a dandy of a show. Turner looks to be noticeably tough, as he has blew three engines this year and has not been able to race at all, having all his troubles in practice before the nights events even started. He has been itching to get back to the track but didn't want to until his car was completely ready, and this event is the time to bring it back out.

The race itself is not a bad payday at all, especially through the field, and is working in conjunction with the "Old Dominion Shootout" being held in a few weeks at Franklin County Speedway on Memorial day Monday. The race at Franklin County pays $2000 to win also, but the top five finishers this week at Ace have a chance to take home another $500 if they win that event, then another opportunity to win another $500 if they win their next LMSC start. Nine other tracks are participating in the same program, but with the only other one in action this weekend being Lonesome Pine Raceway, it looks like Ace may be the place to be.
