Concord, NC ~ Ross Furr has had a terrible 2008 season despite having won the season opening race at Concord Motorsport Park back on March 31, 2008, but in the last two races the momentum has shifted and Furr is climbing back up to the top.
The 2008 UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Car Series is officially halfway over after Saturday nights Bristol 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway and Furr has a little momentum started as he heads into the season half of the season. Two weeks ago at Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville, NC, Furr picked up his first top ten finish in seven races with a seventh place finish and backed that up this weekend with a sixth place finish at Bristol. Furr still hasn't managed to get back to qualifying up front as he again qualified outside the top ten with a 13th place qualifying effort on the 1/2 mile super speedway of short tracks, but he's got racing into the top ten down.
Furr's day was pretty smooth and the race was even smoother as the young 2007 UARA-STARS Series Champion practiced fast, in fact he was the fastest in the first practice session and then slipped back a little as the field caught up a little. Furr's 13th place start had him and some other really good quality cars racing hard to get inside the top ten and stay there. Furr raced hard and came out with another top ten, a finish he and the team were very happy with.
"That's what we're capable of, we're still a good team and I haven't lost my touch. I hope we've got this season turned around, we're only halfway and I think we can show the strength everyone expected after our win in the season opener," said Furr.
