Ross Furr Wins One for Tim Taylor at Concord in UARA-STAR S Season Opener Concord, NC ~ Ross Furr came into the UARA-STARS 2008 season opener at Concord Motorsports Park with a heavy heart as one his longtime sponsors and friends, Tim Taylor of Taylor Pump & Lift and Whitley Truck & Equipment was in a hospital suffering with the affects of cancer and Taylor's wife, Wanda has also been diagnosed with cancer ... Furr kept that fresh in his mind and drove his heart out as he put in a solid performance starting in seventh place and driving smooth to the front to win the race in honor of his friends and in a race sponsored by their business, the Whitley Truck & Equipment 150. Ross steadily worked his way through the field barely putting a scratch on his new Marlowe Racing Chassis powered by Billy Banks Racing Engines and he showed that his Banks engine wasn't lacking for horsepower as he powered through the top five and after taking the lead he held off a hard charging Jake Crum and Roger Lee Newton for the win. Furr lead a one-two sweep for Marlowe Racing Chassis with Crum bringing home second and gave Billy Banks his first Comp Cams Engine Builder of the Race award for the 2008 season. Ross nearly came to tears in victory lane as he showed the emotion of his win and dedicated to his friends, Wanda and Tim Taylor. The Taylor's have been sponsors of his for years and in a victory lane interview he said they had been with him when he was wrecking and now they're with him while he's winning. Ross also was very thankful to his crew who had worked so hard over the winter as they prepared the new car. "The crew just did a great job, Greg(Peterson) and the guys had the car hooked up and we were good all night and it's nice to start the season off like this instead of the way we did last year," said Furr, who was reffering to missing the season opening race last season, despite going on to win the championship.
