Robert Staley proves to us that Stock Cars don't have to go in circles as he shows us some Late Model Stock Car type race cars turning left and right on the road course of Virginia International Raceway located just outside Danville, Virginia.

Danville, VA ~ When the National Auto Sport Association held their annual February event at Virginia International Raceway last weekend there was a hint of short trackin' in the air with several Late Model Stock Car type cars running in the events held on the last weekend in February.

Joe Henderson's Monte Carlo looked more like it belonged at Southside Speedway's bullring than the sprawling 3.27 mile road course. Seems that's the heritage of the white number 59 car. Henderson ran the car in the pro-6 class at Southside last year.

"My friends thought I was crazy when I told them I was going road racing with this car" Henderson stated. With just a few modifications, Henderson was able to get the car road race ready and ran in the front half of his race against mostly Porches, BMW's, and other sports cars.

As evidenced by the "4 sale, 5K" on the quarterpanels, Henderson has the car up for sale and may have run his last race behind the wheel of the car.

"I've got a wife and two small kids. But I won't be sad if I don't sell it," concluded Henderson.

If the car is still his, Henderson hopes to run at both Southside and Langley in 2008. Henderson started 31st in the "stinger" race and finished 8th overall of 59 cars. His short track stallion was amongst a handful of bullring beasts that were on hand to take on the sports car contingent.

The other cars pictured include ... #09 is Lester Lesneski (ran in the old sportsman series that used to run at Lowes Motor Speedway) , #88 is Richard Koehler from Roanoke, VA, and the #6 legends car is John Janszen Jr. The two Monte Carlos ran in the "Thunder" race. The legends car ran in the stinger race.
