LATE MODEL STOCK CARS!

Wytheville, VA ~ The RACE22.com staff has but one question to answer .... Who is Number One?

Of course we're talking about the RACE22.com Spring 2008 Power Rankings for Late Model Stock Car racers. Matt DiBenedetto was ranked number one in the Fall/Winter Power Rankings for 2007 after his impressive season on the UARA-STARS tour and a fourth place finish at Martinsville Speedway in the Bailey's 300, but this spring it's a whole new

game and a whole new set of drivers setting the scene on fire.

Coleman Pressley with his five wins on the season, three at Hickory Motor Speedway and two at Greenville Pickens Speedway, where he is the points leader currently has to be at the top of anyones list, but there is a handful of other racers out there looking for the top seed. Philip Morris has two second place finishes at Motor Mile, but to date is winless as the season enters it's third race. Jimmy Mullins has three wins at Franklin County Speedway, DiBenedetto has two wins on two different tracks and Jake Crum has been steady on the UARA tour with two second place finishes and a third in three races while leading the points.

Speaking of the UARA-STARS tour there is atleast two other drivers on the tour that deserve a place inside the top ten including single race winner, Jamie Yelton, who may very well have won all three races if it wasn't for bad luck. Richard Boswell is another top contender starting off the season with a strong run that went sour when he cut a tire late and then finishing third and second respectively in the last two races. Yelton, Boswell and Crum have showed incredible stregth this season and no doubt are at the top of their respective games this season.

How about surprise winners? Mike Looney pulled off a big win at Motor Mile Speedway in the most recent race and he's certainly deserving of a vote inside the top ten. Andy Loden has two wins this season, one at Hickory Motor Speedway and one at Tri-County Motor Speedway, so he's certainly got a leg up on the competition. FDJ Racing drivers Dude Gibbs and Justin Johnson each have picked up their first career wins this season in the first two of three races to date at South Boston Speedway.

Randy Benson has won three of the first four races this season at Caraway Speedway, Jason York has won two races at Ace Speedway and was the other victor at Caraway and Rodney Cook has a handful of second place finishes at Ace & Franklin County Speedway this season. Other drivers in the mix as the first of the season ballots roll in include; Kyle Hall winner of three of the last four races at Southern National, Davin Scites winner of the season opener at Motor Mile, Corey Strickland a two time winner at Southern National and Matt McCall who's dominating performances in the Pig Rig Ford has gotten his engine banned from competing at one track and put at a disadvantage at another.

With an all-star list of drivers like that it's going to be hard for Langley, Corey, Rob, Doc and Kim to decide who's going to be number one and for that matter who's going to be left out of the top ten. The WP Racing Shocks Late Model Stock Car Power Rankings will be announced soon ... who do you think will be number one?
