Dublin, VA ~ There have been rumblings, there has been talk, but today we're able to confirm that the Dublin Developers Inc. race team will be a super team in 2008.

Two-time Motor Mile Speedway Late Model Stock Car track champion, Chad Harris of Stuarts Draft, VA has been tapped to be behind the drivers seat after having only run a part time schedule in 2007. Harris was behind the wheel of the Gilbert Motorsports team owned by Late Model Stock Car veteran, Jeff Gilbert in 2007, but an issue of team funding kept them from running a full time schedule, but Harris and Gilbert made the most of it winning one race at Motor Mile Speedway last season and a couple of more at Franklin County Speedway.

Harris is excited about his plans with the Dublin Developers team owned by Bobby Dunnigan for the 2008 season where they intend to compete for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series title at Motor Mile Speedway, but he says he hated to leave Gilberts team.

"Jeff and I really gelled really quick and I think we could have accomplished a lot, but the funding just wasn't there," said Harris. "Despite the fact that we didn't have the money the other teams had, we were really successful, winning a race at Motor Mile(Speedway) is a tough deal even for a well funded team."

Harris thinks that the same good communication that helped him and Gilbert to be successful will exist with his new crew chief, Dave Roope. Roope who was hired a couple weeks ago after competing for the last couple of seasons working for Tamco Motorsports and team owner, Tam Topham and with superstar drivers such as Jeffrey Earnhardt, the grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Drive for Diversity driver, Allison Duncan. Roope brings a lot of experience to the team and Harris said he's looking forward to working with Dave after knowing him for years.

"I've raced around Dave(Roope) for years, you know he's always been around and I'm excited to work with him for the first time," continued Harris. "Dave's demeanor and personality made him a perfect fit and he seems to mesh with my personality."

Roope is also excited about the new opportunity saying that the whole reason he was interested in this deal was the chance to work with Chad Harris and the opportunity to compete with Philip Morris, Davin Scites, Tommy Lemons, Jr. and others this season at Motor Mile on a even playing field.

"To work with Chad(Harris) is the reason I'm doing this, he's one of the classiest guys in racing," stated Roope. "He's a super nice guy and this is a great opportunity for both of us to compete on a high level and give Philip(Morris) and those other guys a run for their money this season."

Team owner Bobby Dunnigan went after the best equipment he could buy when they purchased the equipment that powered Matt DiBenedetto to the UARA-STARS Rookie of the Year award with two UARA wins as well as a top five finish at Martinsville Speedway in Late Model Stock Cars biggest race, the Bailey's 300. The cars will give Harris and Roope a chance to work with Greg Marlowe who built both of the chassis that DiBenedetto had.

Marlowe is also excited to work with Harris again, the two worked together in 1998 and Harris had a lot of success in Childress chassis', which is basically the same chassis that Marlowe has with a lot of Marlowe's work put into it to make it even better.

For Harris this deal is a show up on race day deal as he has a full time job as a plant manager for a custom food equipment company and he's looking forward to having a full time guy working on the car for the first time.

"Having someone to work on the car all the time is the biggest difference in this ride and all the other one's I've had over the years, in the past we've all had full time jobs and then just worked on the car in our spare time, but now Dave is going to be working on these cars all the time, I can't help but be excited about that," concluded Harris.

The goal according to both Harris and Roope is to compete for wins and to get the Dublin Developers team their first championship after having a dismal season with Jason Merriman behind the wheel last season. With this super team coming together I have no doubt that they will have a great first season together.

PIT STOPS ...

GILBERT MOTORSPORTS ...
With Harris leaving the team, team owner Jeff Gilbert has been fielding calls from a large number of drivers and while he hasn't made a decision on what the teams plans are for 2008, there's no doubt they'll be back competing at just as high a level as they were able to with Harris behind the wheel this past season.

TAMCO MOTORSPORTS ...
Dave Roope has officially moved over to the Dublin Developers team and Tamco Motorsports team owner, Tam Topham has been busy planning his 2008 season and will likely go with Richard Childress Racing and Team Dillon, with driver Austin Dillon, who will compete for the championship in the NASCAR Camping World Series(formerly the Busch East Series). Dillon will likely make a few appearances behind the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car as well as competing in a number of dirt Late Model races. Topham will serve as Dillon's spotter and is excited about working with the young driver who is the grandson of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner, Richard Childress. Topham will also help 16 year-old, Jake Crum when time permits as he believes in the young drivers talent.

TODD GOBLE ...
Todd was the most recent driver of the Tamco Motorsports entry and has moved on and teamed up with veteran NASCAR Late Model Stock Car driver and crew chief, Dexter Canipe for the 2008 season. Goble will likely compete for the Hickory Motor Speedway championship with Canipe serving as his crew chief.
