Yelton Crash 'Bad Fast' Ride in Bristol Testing ...
WE ARE ...
Bristol, TN ~ Jamie Yelton was sick ... "sick as a dog" as he put it, but not because he crashed his very fast race car at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon after being three tenths of second faster than any of the the other five cars at the test session, but he may just have crashed because he was sick. Jamie Yelton(8) at speed coming across the finish line at Bristol Motor Speedway early on his sticker run, he would crash a few minutes later in turn four.
Yelton simply was a little tight coming off of turn four and slammed the outside wall coming off busting some brake parts throwing them out all down the front straight away and eventual having his car come to a slow stop back around in turn three, where the crew and other teams rushed over to have a look at the car. Yelton was uninjured, but for a guy who was already not feeling well, it was a tough blow right near the end of practice on the half mile superspeedway for the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Cars. Jamie Yelton(center), the crew as well as fellow drivers Brandon McReynolds and Matt DiBenedetto check out the damage sustained to the Marlowe Racing Chassis.
Other than Yelton's brush with the wall late it was an uneventful day for the rest of the six drivers testing on this perfect Sunday afternoon. Other drivers included last nights winner at Newport Speedway, Matt DiBenedetto, who brought the same Mitch West Racing Ford powered by a Chevrolet Crate Engine to Bristol today, UARA-STARS points leader, Jake Crum, Brandon McReynolds, Cliff Daniels and Yelton's teammate, Paddy Rodenbeck. Chassis Builder, Greg Marlowe(left) and Jamie Yelton(center) check out the damage to Yelton's racer. Jake Crum's car up on jackstands as the team works on getting the car ready to make a final sticker run as the track was closing down for the day. Jamie Yelton's car was a little banged up after his little tussle with the outside wall in turn four at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. A little bit of damage on the front suspension of Jamie Yelton's ride after the wall jumped out and bit him. Chassis Builder, Greg Marlowe reaches in and gets a piece of the brake rotor still left on the car after Yelton's crash into the turn four wall. |
