Martinsville Bailey's 300 Coverage Presented by:

9:00am ~ Here we are on day 3 of the Bailey's 300 weekend, and for the first time in 2 days nothing is falling from the sky and the sun is shining. Qualifying was supposed to roll off at 8 a.m., but heavy fog and the jetdryers blowing the track off has pushed the schedule back slightly. We'll be ready to go here shortly, so come on out to a beautiful day at the track, or stay right here for all your coverage of the 2008 Bailey's 300.

11:10am ~ DEJA VU??  Davin Scites & Philip Morris flank front row for 2008 Bailey's 300.

Time trials have come to an end, and since Davin Scites missed the open test a few weeks ago, everybody seemed to write him off for the pole. They shouldn't have. The Motor Mile regular blistered the track in his Jr. Motorsports ride, beating his own track record(20.395) from a year ago to secure the pole with a time of 20.316. National Champion Philip Morris will roll off second, followed by Dennis Setzer, Mark McFarland, and Tommy Lemons rounding out the top 5.

Qualifying was exciting, as many drivers drove as hard as they could, some doing too much. Rusty Skewes spun his car in turn 4, and Ed Williams, Jimmy Mullins and Russ Ellis got etremely loose, dirt-tracking their cars through the corners killing any hopes they had of making the top 22.  Matt Lofton smacked the wall of turn 2 on both his laps, causing a major tire rub during his run.

Some surprises on the bad end of qualifying were 2002 Baileys 300 champion Frank Deiny, who qualified 78th of the 109, putting him in one of the 4 heats to make the show. Other big names have to advance through the heats are Rodney Cook(60th), Jamie Yelton(34th), Brandon Butler(38th), and 2006 winner Alex Yontz(57th).

We'll have the complete results here shortly as they are made available......stay tuned.
