RACE22.com FDJ Motorsports Pre-Race SoBo/Caraway Power Rankings -- 12 thru 22 22nd -- Michael Ritch(SoBo) Michael Ritch's history in Late Model Stok Cars doesn't even need to be described and after a long stretch in the USAR Pro Cup Series he appears to back behind the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car again. Though, he didn't set the world on fire at Martinsville in his return to Late Model Stock Cars, his history in the series lets us know he'll be one of the guys to beat anytime he climbs in the seat. 21st -- Tommy Lemons, Jr.(SoBo) Tommy Lemons, Jr. is on the verge of breaking through in a Late Model Stock Car big time ... the Only problem is he's been on the verge of breaking through for the last couple of seasons and still has yet to cement his place in Late Model Stock Car racing. Tommy as we've said before is hit or miss, but if his speed at Martinsville could carry over to a solid finish, he might be in contention to win at South Boston. 20th -- Harrison Rhodes(Caraway) Harrison Rhodes??? I know many you still haven't taken notice, but the young Caraway Speedway regular is starting to turn some heads. He had our attention at the Rusty Harpe Memorial in a strong performance and then he shocked everyone by qualifying solidly at Martinsville and backing it up by making the race through the heat. We're expecting big things out of Harrison going forward. Brandon Dean has certainly had a great season and he would certainly be a top five rated driver for a big race at Motor Mile, but for some reason the young driver hasn't adapted as well to other tracks. He had a solid run at Martinsville, but at South Boston he's never really been a threat to win. This weekend he'll need some speed, a little luck and you never know he could surprise everyone, because we know he's capable of winning now. 19th -- Brandon Dean(SoBo) 18th -- Peyton Sellers(SoBo) Peyton Sellers is still the same driver that won the NASCAR National Title a few years back, but this season he hasn't been able to put himself in victory lane for whatever reason. Driving a car for Steve James, who has had many winning seasons at South Boston, Peyton has to be a favorite this weekend. He didn't have the kind of luck or run he was looking for at Martinsville, but South Boston is his home track. 17th -- Robert Johnson(Caraway) We freely admit that we weren't at all impressed with Robert Johnson in the majority of his first season on the UARA-STARS Series tour despite the young man winning the Rookie of the Year title. He simply wasn't impressive, but at Martinsville he really turned some heads and opened some eyes and even backed that up in last weeks UARA finale at Rockingham. While he's not like the old man, NASCAR Hall of Famer, Junior Johnson, he's ready to make his own mark on Late Model racing. 16th -- Jonathan Cash(SoBo) Jonathan Cash looked to have a strong car at Martinsville, but a crash early on cost him a chance at finishing up the run to see where he was going to stack up. However, now he's ready to head to his home track at South Boston and behind the wheel of the always strong Long Brothers entry has to put this young driver on the list of people to watch this weekend. 15th -- Ryan Wilson(Caraway) Ryan Wilson continues to ride a see-saw season that's seen him do pretty much everything from winning a race at Caraway to getting crashed out running strong to missing the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville. Last weekend he made the most of a chance to race for "The King", Richard Petty in ARCA and finished 14th and this week he'll be hoping to carry that momentum back to his home track for the Big One. 14th -- Deac McCaskill(SoBo) Deac McCaskill picked up the win in the last 'big race' at South Boston on Indepence Day weekend, but it's been all down hill since then. From being disqualified pre-race for carburetor issues on a weekly race to just plain not running good, Deac's season fell apart after his only win of the year. Now he's got to be hoping that he can use this big race to turn things back around in the Danville Toyota 300. 13th -- Nick Smith(SoBo) Nick Smith might well have missed the race at Martinsville a couple weeks ago, but he's still one of the best young talents in the business today. Nick will back in the same car as he was at Martinsville for Bob Uncer and with a little time to prepare for this race, he should show us everything that ride has to offer in the Danville Toyota 300 at South Boston Speedway. 12th -- Robert Tyler(Caraway) Robert Tyler ended the 2010 season at Caraway with a victory and you know he's going to be wanting to carry that momentum into the biggest race of the season. The Mid-Atlantic Championship 250 is certain to be a "big race" with big names like Matt McCall, Alex Yontz and Frank Deiny coming to compete, but Robert Tyler could be one of the locals who could steal the show.
