UARA-STARS Series

Wytheville, VA ~ The battle for the championship is rarely ever a barn burner battle at the local level without the help of a "Chase for the Championship" format, but the UARA-STARS Series had one this year for the record books.

The series sixth year was it's best with Rookie, Matt DiBenedetto leading the points early in the season and a great battle every week throughout the season.  BJ Mackey took his spot at the top of the pile for much of the season and then lost ground late in the season and sealed his fate with a early crash into the lapped car of Zeke Shell at Franklin County Speedway giving veteran, Mark Setzer the points lead.  Setzer held the point until the final race of the season when he got together on the first lap of the race with former point leader, Mackey and handing the championship to Ross Fur, who missed the first of the season due to a heat race crash.

The UARA-STARS Series had one incredible championship battle this season and crowned Furr the champion and hopefully we'll see a championship battle this good again in 2008.
